Translation API
Translate text between more than 100 languages with neural machine translation (NMT) or the Translation LLM.

- Each OCR feature applied to an image is one unit: running text detection and document text detection on the same image counts as two.
- Each page of a PDF, TIFF or GIF file counts as one image.
- Prices are quoted per 1,000 images, and the last block is prorated, so you pay for exactly the units you use.
- Only images that are processed successfully are billed.
Example: 5,300 images with text detection in one month cost $6.45 (1,000 images free · 4,300 images × $1.50 per 1,000 images).

Translation usage is counted in Unicode code points, including whitespace.
Free tier resets monthly
Your first 500,000 characters of NMT translation each month are free. The allowance resets every month, per billing account.
Monthly invoicing
Usage across all linked projects is invoiced once a month per billing account, in US dollars.

How does billing work?
Usage from every project linked to a billing account is metered as it happens and rated at the price in effect at that time. Each month, it is totalled into one invoice per billing account.
Do your prices match Google Cloud?
Yes. List prices for the Translation API and OCR API match Google Cloud list prices for the equivalent SKUs, in US dollars.
Is there a free tier?
Yes. Every billing account gets 500,000 characters of NMT translation and 1,000 images for each OCR feature free every month, and the allowances reset at the start of each month. All other usage is billed at the prices on this page.
How are characters counted?
Characters are counted as Unicode code points, including whitespace. For example, “Hello, world” counts as 12 characters. Language detection requests are billed as NMT usage.
How is the OCR API billed?
Each OCR feature applied to an image counts as one unit, and each page of a PDF, TIFF or GIF file counts as one image. Text detection and document text detection are billed separately: the first 1,000 images of each feature every month are free, then the graduated prices above apply, quoted per 1,000 images and prorated per unit. Only images that are processed successfully are billed.
Am I charged for failed requests?
No. Requests are only billed when they succeed, and the OCR API only bills images that are processed successfully.
What happens when a price changes?
Prices are versioned. Scheduled changes are listed on this page with their effective date, and usage is always rated at the price in effect when it occurred.
Do you offer volume pricing?
If you expect to translate more than 1 billion characters per month, or run other large workloads, talk to us about volume pricing. Contact us for volume pricing
Which currency do you bill in?
All prices and invoices are in US dollars (USD). Applicable taxes are added to your invoice where required.
